Who wants to shoot a short documentary? The International Seminar DOCUDOJO (www.docudojo.film) was created with a strong focus on the art of Documentary, promoting an autonomous and independent approach to creation. Outside of the academic sphere, it combines theoretical training followed by the practical directing of a short documentary film, 10-20 minutes long. Taught exclusively in English with online participation, the Seminar consists of seven Masterclasses over 7 weeks (Saturdays, WET timezone, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, from February 22 to April 5, 2025), open to professionals, students or aspiring documentarians from any country.
Led by experienced international professionals (in both theory and film practice), the seven sessions will be conducted by a team of excellency. Canadian critic JUSTINE PERES SMITH lays the foundational stones. Notable American experimental documentarian LYNNE SACHS explores script development and working methods. Australian critic ADRIAN MARTIN calls for contemporary approaches to conceptualization. Brazilian programmer, critic, and professor VICTOR GUIMARÃES designs his constellation in ethnographic and anthropological films. Turkish author, producer and programmer based in Canada and connected to the Sundance Documentary Fund, MUSTAFA UZUNER brings “unofficial masterpieces” of Documentary. Indian experimental filmmaker and professor MEHDI JAHAN presents variations of Editing Theories. Throughout this journey, participants will make their own films autonomously, with continuous technical support from editor/filmmaker RAUL DOMINGUES, coordinated by screenwriter and director SABRINA D. MARQUES.
Registrations are now open. The course is limited to 20 participants and can be attended in full or selectively, choosing one or more masterclasses.
